Dear St. John’s Families,
May the Lord give you His peace.
As you have heard, several schools in the Bronx; St. Anne’s, Sts. Peter and Paul, and
Visitation, along with St. Mary’s (Carpenter Ave.), and St. Gregory the Great (Manhattan)
will cease operations in June 2017. These are sad times for the families, especially the
children, affected by the closures.
Saint John’s School is strongly committed to continue to provide an excellent
CATHOLIC education to our students. We will welcome as many of the students from the
affected schools as possible. We are planning several activities in the coming months to
encourage the families to consider and select St. John’s School for their children. Please
consider helping our faculty and Home & School Association in planning and preparing to
receive these new families.
The St. John’s School Alumni Association has raised over $65,000 to help us build a
new STEM Lab! In addition to this we have applied for a grant to offset construction costs.
Construction will begin in June 2017 and the new lab will be ready in September!
The current library will also be undergoing a transformation. This new Literacy
Center will combine a technology based research room, writing lab, and reading facilities for
all of our children!
Re-Registration is going forward. If you plan on re-registering your child at St. John’s
do it as soon as possible. Current families will be given priority of placement. Those places
may run out as families from the affected schools apply to St. John’s.
The re-registration fee changes to $100 per child on March 15, 2017.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 1, 2017. St. John’s School will attend the 9:00
AM Mass at St. John’s – Visitation Church. Please join us.
